It brings to mind moments he's had with Anakin. When he was still just a boy, still clinging to the idea of his mother, of saving her, there had been so much anger in him and although they had trained together, learned together, and Anakin had gotten better at letting it go, he'd gotten better at hiding it, too.
That isn't what Obi-Wan had wanted for him. It isn't what he wants for him now. Darrow has given him a second chance with Anakin and perhaps it's giving Vanya a second chance, too. He knows she isn't a Jedi, she isn't sensitive to the Force as he knows it, but there is another power that exists in her and it seems to be one that she needs to learn about, just as the Jedi learn about what they're capable of.
Obi-Wan isn't looking to start another Jedi Order. He's only looking to help.
"You needn't apologize," he says, his voice still low and warm, his hand still upon her shoulder. He smiles very faintly. "You'll find I'm not so easily frightened away."
