Once again, Vanya finds herself grateful for his mercy. Obi-Wan doesn't leave her words hanging in the air for long. He never looks away with those kind eyes, his gentle features never harden or crease. It makes her want to cry again immediately when that reassuring squeeze of her shoulder reinforces all that he's said: he doesn't scare easily, he believes that she isn't beyond help. He wants to help her. The urge to launch herself against him and squeeze her undeserving arms around him is a powerful force that all but rings in her ears. She resists. This man has seen more of her in half an hour than anyone but her family (and "Leonard") has seen in her whole life. It's more than too much. She's never been so thankful to feel as drained as she does.

"Thank you," she says again. She's thinking about Klaus, now and how she hopes she gets to be the one to tell him about this encounter. The idea of him coming home and hating her and everything falling back the way it was is too crippling for her. It feels cruel to harp on this when she should just be grateful for Obi-Wan and his strength and generosity and power. Again, she's too exhausted to unpack it.

"Hell of a way to meet your brother's man-friend," she murmurs, mouth twitching against an appreciative, exhausted smile as she tucks a side of her hair behind her ear. She wipes at her eyes one final time, eyes all the way up to his face where she hopes to find that Obi-Wan can appreciate this attempt to break the tension.
